NetEffect Showcasing Industry's Fastest, Lowest Power, 10GbE Adapter at Annual Interop Event

Austin, Texas. – May 21, 2007 – NetEffect, the leader in high performance, low power Ethernet connectivity solutions, today announced it will demonstrate its new, record-setting family of Ethernet adapters at Interop Las Vegas, May 20 - 25. The NE020 family of 10Gb and 1Gb iWARP Ethernet adapters will be featured as part of the 10Gb Ethernet Data Center exhibit in the Ethernet Alliance® booth (#2265).

NetEffect's NE020 family of iWARP Ethernet adapters dramatically increases the performance of existing and evolving networking, storage and clustering applications. As the first company to fully implement the IETF's iWARP extensions to the Ethernet standard, NetEffect delivers the lowest power 10Gb Ethernet adapter with the highest performance and lowest CPU overhead compared to any competitive offerings currently available.

The NE020 adapter offers a number of record-setting benchmarks, including:
  • Uses less than 6 watts of power for a single-port CX4, and less than 7 watts for a dual-port adapter, significantly less than competing solutions.
  • Delivers throughput greater than 9Gbps (unidirectional) and 15.5Gbps (bi-directional), making it the first Ethernet adapter to provide more than 10Gbps to standard sockets-based applications and to process more than 2 million packets per second.
  • Requires less than 5 percent of the CPU to deliver maximum performance by offloading the networking overhead from the processor, providing more CPU cycles for applications.
  • Runs industry-standard clustering applications with the lowest latency available for Ethernet - less than 7 µsec - and competitive with even proprietary clustering fabrics. Unlike competitive products, NetEffect's adapters maintain their low latency characteristics even under data center loads and with many active connections, which is critical for multi-core, multi-socket systems.
"At Interop we are demonstrating the performance and versatility of our NE020 family for the data networking marketplace," said Rick Maule, CEO and president, NetEffect. "Our Ethernet adapters address the full range of challenges for IT managers - namely, achieving high performance and low latency while consuming incredibly low amounts of power and yet running existing and evolving networking, storage and clustering applications for any data center in any market."

"The Ethernet Alliance's vision of becoming the industry voice for IEEE 802® Ethernet has become a success due to the support and commitment of members like NetEffect," said Brad Booth, president, Ethernet Alliance. "As we celebrate our one-year anniversary at Interop Las Vegas, the Ethernet Alliance is proud to showcase the latest in IEEE 802 Ethernet technologies. Looking to the future, the Ethernet Alliance and its members look forward to continuing the advancement of Ethernet technologies."
