History
NetEffect’s management and engineering team has been
developing and launching next generation, high performance
data transport solutions since 1999, when they started Banderacom.
Backed by blue chip Venture Capital firms, the company designed,
manufactured, and shipped the iBandit™ InfiniBand Channel
Adapter and 16-channel switch, both of which received customer
acceptance and best-of-class industry recognition. InfiniBand’s
proprietary nature and requirement for replacing all devices
in the communication path as well as most of the existing
network management software makes it a very expensive and
impractical solution for most data centers. Recognizing that
performance improvements of InfiniBand could never fully outweigh
the costs of implementation, the team quickly turned to iWARP
Ethernet as a foundation for a technically innovative and
economically practical alternative, and formed NetEffect.
